I want to have a place flush my automatic transmission. What should i have them do? I am leakin a little bit from the pan but i bet its just the gasket goin bad. I hope they just empty it and clean out the pan a little. I am also leaking on the thingy that sticks out i think its the thing that moves to change the gears (sorry i cant describe it better. SHould i have anything done to that (how much would it cost) and should i have them adjust anything to make the trans more efficient and shift as smooth as possible.

I usually do my stuff my self but i just dont feel like workin on the trans.

 

Changing the fluid once a year would be my advice. You won't get all the fluid with one change, which is why it's good to set up a rotation schedule.

But then again, a few months after I changed my fluid and filter my trans tooka dump on me. I would still advise changing the fluid, though. I'm not saying that my trans broke because I changed the fluid, I'm saying I'm ticked that it broke right after I paid $ and did work to it. I was right in the crosshairs for it to let go, though, it seems 80-100k is where a lot of them break, I was at 91k.

BTW you'd better get that leak fixed, you never know when you might get too low on fluid. It's actually not that hard to do it yourself, just take all the bolts out, clean up, put the gasket on, and bolt it back up.

Also there's not much you can adjust on the outside on the outside of the tranny. The selector mechanism you're referring to just tells the tranny what gear you would like. Softer/harder shifting has a lot to do with pressures and the internal design of the transmission.

 

Should i have the transmission place do anything else, for example adjust anything?
