Transmission leak

I have a problem with my transmission leaking. Buddy of mine replaced the pan gasket and the speed sensor seal (I think it was that seal). I will check the dip stick tube tomorrow. But the funny thing is we cant see where its leaking from. The front and back main seals stay pretty dry. Rest of the car underneath has fluid all over it. Get a lot of white-ish smoke when I drive but I'm thinking its the fluid on the exhaust. Doesnt leak all the time. You can drive it at 70 miles an hour 35 miles and it wont leak. Then you can get in it the next day and drive it 30 MPH 2 miles and it leaks like hell and vice versa. No rhyme or reason.

Any places to look? Tranny shifts like normal. I dont want to take it to a shop and have them charge me $1000 to fix a $12 seal.

Thanks in advance

Re: Transmission leak

Very good question. My tranny has leaked for 4 years and I have never been able to get it to stop
