Hey guys, I'v been dealing with my car being inoperable for about 5 months now... well I shouldn't say inoperable but it hasn't worked the way it used to. It all started on a drive on the freeway going about 110 all of a sudden the car started making a scraping noise below where I was sitting. It was a horrible grinding sound, After stopping the car it appeared to of gone away. After that, the car would make a metal barely swiping metal kind of whirl, it was either increase when I accelerated or sometimes after letting go of the accelerator it was stop making any noise. One day after driving the car I woke up to find it not reaching any gear. I contacted a mechanic who stated it was my torque converter; I payed for a upgraded stall torque converter and after having it installed the car still made the whirling sound.... but now the car slips in third gear, 1st to 2nd is fine and on time, but once the car gets to about 30mph the car wants to shift to third but slips into nuetral till it hits 3000rpm, then goes into 3rd gear. The car will not reach 4th, I can only seem to make 70mph at third before the car then slips again and trys to reach 4 but wont shift just redlines. Iv been dealing with this crappy as mechanic since december and the guy still hasnt fixed it. I decided to take the car back and have some other opinions. So now I look to you. Fluid levels fine.
Fluid when the car was torque converter was being replaced was proper color no smell. I didnt even see metal in the oil.... I just want my damn car working, I hate driving a minivan

 

It's something internal transmission not the torque converter. If I had to guess, it's either a overdrive clutch pack is bad. I'm not sure if the 4L60E has a band in it, but those could be bad if they do. Either way it sounds like there is a rebuild in your future.
