Stupid move of the year!

Today I hurt my 95 Z28. I decided to pass someone in 3rd gear full throttle and when I thought that I was upshifting I downshifted into second. Instantly I noticed what gear I was in immediately shifted back up to third there was nothing there. It acts as if the car is in neutral in every gear. Now I was rapped out at 5 grand when this happened. Did I lunch this 6spd or did I smoke the clutch. Ive had the car for 8 months and the previous owner had the clutch replaced 5 years ago with a cheap aftermarket clutch and throwout bearing. before this happened it had some t/o bearing noise. I havent torn the trans out yet and was hoping someone could give me a solid answer to ease my mind because im not ready to bare the cost for a new tranny. When the car is shut down you can shift into all the gears and you can feel and hear the trans like normal.

Secondly how much work is it to pull these tranny's? Ive never pulled a trans from one of these cars and honestly not looking forward to it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Ok nevermind on the how hard to pull the tranny question. It is probably the easiest trans ive ever pulled. By the looks of it I destroyed the clutch after pulling the slave cylinder I found metal chunks from the throwout bearing.

Anyone have any thoughts on Mcleod Clutches? I have had bad experiences with center force in the past and RAM clutches just dont have enough reviews to make a decision. I appreciate any input before I make my purchase. The car is putting out almost 400 HP just to help with the info.

Ok what ive gathered from the clutch sticky all of these So called High Performance clutch kits are all coming from the same manufacturers and there is nothing special about any of them. I guess my route will be as suggested and use the autozone clutch kit with a Brand? clutch disc.

Thanks for all the input you guys really know your cars and products.

Mccleod single disc. Summit sells both the 5500 and the 7500 rpm disc. About the same price. I have the 7500 rpm disc and like it.

A friend of mine works for an offroad racing company in San Bernadino and told me to buy a Kennedy Engineering Products (KEP) 6 pad clutch disc. They use this disc in all of their LT1 powered Baja Trucks / Buggies. Does anyone have any info on street performance of this clutch disc? Heres the link to Kennedy's website http://www.kennedyeng.com/
