Transmission flush at 91K?

Should I attempt it? Or just Filter Change and new fluid?

I was told that Flushing it can cause more problems than it will solve... I finally have the opportunity to do it however... I never drive the car hard but I do know that this has never been done... What do you suggest?

If I proceeded about performing this myself, how many Quarts will the transmission pan take? and also - how difficult is it to replace the filter? Will I see it immidiately after opening the pan?

the job is very easy and messy,, yes get the pan off and you will see the filter, wiggle and pull down and filter will come off,, slide new filter up into pump, push it up into the seal

clean your pan and gasket surfaces and put the pan back up(dont go nuts tightning the bolts, just snug is fine)

it should take 4.5-5 qts atf to re-fill it

Thats it?! Why does every shop want to charge me $100 to do THAT?! That sounds simpler than an Oil Change...

...What if I refill with TrickShift Trans fluid? Would that be recomended or should I go Valvoline High Milage?

They charge that much usually because it includes the cost of the fluid and the filter/gasket kit.

Thing is it's never been serviced before so I didn't wanna loosen up sludge and clog up the lines if thats what synthetic or Trickshift might do...
... I have three more questions though

#1 - When I priced out the filter and gasket, they came up with two matches... A deep pan and a shallow pan - Which one do I have or how do I tell? 01 Z28 Auto...

#2 - If I use the trans seafoam - do I risk messing up the trans since it's never been serviced before?

#3 - If I replace the filter / refill the fluid - and do it again every say 5K miles - do you think it will get rid of most of the sludge in the trans since it's never been serviced and perhaps bring it to a point where it can be flushed since it's been exposed to a new filter every 5K miles for atleast 3 times?
