Transmission fluid capacity?

You all! How many quarts of transmission fluid do you use after you drop the pan and change the filter on an A4?

I think it's in the back of your owner's manual.

It says 5 quarts but autozone told me 4 quarts. When I dropped the pan fluid and transfered the old fluid into empty trans fluid quart containers, I only got less than 4 back. The less I can alocate to the old stuff that never made it into the pan (about 1/3 quart). I check my trans. fluid at every oil change and it is always good. So if it is 5 quarts then my trans. dip stick is wrong? WTF? Any help would be great!

I wouldn't rely on AutoZone to provide accurate information like that. When I went there to find a belt, the dude insisted my car had a 350 c.i. because the computer said so.

With that said, the information he gave you may be a little off. I'd call a GM dealership or a trans. shop for the correct information.
