Transmission Dying.... AGAIN!

On June 12th, I installed a rebuilt (not mine) 4L60E transmission from Performance Automotive and Transmission Center (PATC) located in Bossier City Louisiana after mine died suddenly (145,000 miles). I searched all of the reputable (that I KNEW about) transmission people and no one had any in stock. So I went with these people.

On June 30, it started acting up and I lost some gears (seems like 3 & 4) so we pulled the transmission (at MY EXPENSE) and they shipped it back for inspection. This was 18 days after the initial installation. Was I PO'd? You better believe it. After inspection I was told me it was the 3-4 clutches (?). They fixed it, shipped it back and I had it re-installed.

It ran great. After I got pass the next few weeks I figured it would be ok.

Two days ago, I noticed the 2-3 shift being VERY smooth, sometimes you couldn't feel it. Then today, 2 to 3 and nothing. Motor just rev's.

So, here I am again, this time I went 41 days. Twice in the last 59 days this transmission has broken.

There is a 6 month warranty on it but that does little to pay the labor to replace the transmission again.

I'm calling them tomorrow to see what they have to say. IMHO, I don't believe I should:

1. Pay to remove and re-install another transmission
2. I don't not want this transmission, I want a different one (I know, could have the same/different problem)
3. They need to ship one to me, once it arrives and we remove the other one, they can pay to have it shipped back.
4. OR I want my money back. I've already called the credit card people to dispute the charge.

I've been inconvenienced enough to have to absorb any of the cost and time.

Ok, I'm done.

What do you think? What would you do?

Personally I'd get all my money back, including ALL shipping costs and they keep their tranny. Then I'd look elsewhere for a tranny. But they probably won't reimburse you for labor costs to R and R the tranny.

I know you'd have a lot of downtime with your car doing it that way but I think it's better in the long run to not deal with these guys....I don't think I've ever heard a good thing about PATC.

The only mods are a Vigilante 2600 stall. That's it.

What do you mean by programming??? I have re-programmed mine, at least as far as shift points, TC lockup etc. I've asked here before if anyone knew anything about 4L60E programming and got no response. If you know something I should be doing, I sure wish you would share it with me.

OneFlyn95z28, can you give me any info about the programming.

I guess I curious why a stock tranny can survive 140,000 miles on stock programming and a rebuilt can't go 10,000 without re-programming????

I want it to be right, if you can tell me what needs to be changed, I'll give it a try.
