Re: transgo shift kits.

I got mine here . It's gone up $20 since I bought mine but feel it's still well worth it. Shifting is automatic (D & OD) and manual (1-2-3-OD). Downshifting at any speed - be careful if you don't have a ratchet shifter . Can select 3 settings on install: Mild performance, Street/Strip (broke a ring gear with this setting after switching to Nitto DRs on 1-2 shift), and Full Race (yikes!). Comes with excellent instructions and how to video. Took an afternoon to install - double checking everything and lotsa cleaning. Recommend long nose inner snap ring pliers for the pump pressure regulator swap. Very, very, very happy with the neck-snapping shifts now.

Re: transgo shift kits.

what are the cons of full race and street/strip?

would the full race be ideal for my car or not?

i'm probably gonna do the street/strip, but can anyone tell me if the full race is safe for non rebuilt tranny's?

With the Trans-Go "modified" Performance Shift kit, you can get smooth part throttle shifts, and firm WOT shifts. Yes, these kits can help a stock unit, as long as the transmission fluid looks good, shifts ok, and no noticable slipping.

Re: transgo shift kits.

yeah my transmission is fine. i'm just trying to get other peoples opinions the the 4th setting, because i won't have money to replace anything if it breaks!!!!!! there is no slipping in my tranny or anything, should i go for the full race mode?

Re: transgo shift kits.

Just stick with the middle setting like we talked about. There are only 3 settings with the TransGo kit I got: Mild, Street/Strip, Wild!(Race). With the Street/Strip setting on mine, I break traction at the strip on the 1-2 shift worse than launching off the line. It's also pretty hard on the rear and sticky tires make it worse. If ya don't want to be buying a new 12-bolt or 9-inch soon, stay away from the full race setting. Trust me, the Street/Strip setting is plenty neck-snapping at WOT and very 'crisp' at part throttle.

EDIT: Chicks dig it unless they happen to be putting on make-up . . .

Go full race.

I did in my 93 truck, and you'll love it. Poor old 210hp motor chirps the back tires.

Re: transgo shift kits.

If you are working with accumulation, you can have best of both worlds, long life, with firm WOT shifts. Once you get a 2nd gear chirp at WOT (by making the transmission shift harder (by limiting or blocking accumulation), instead of the motor (due to horsepower) doing the work), you have not accomplished anything, except, making the transmission shift harder. If you have any questions on this, let me know?

This was the reason I purchased my shift kit, to make the tranny shift faster and harder. Now when the engine gets more power, it'll get even better.

how about increasing the line pressure for firm shifts? Would that be a better way for a firmer shift. I seem to like my tuned shifts.
