If I uderstand this correctly does this kit change your 4l60e from electronic to vacuum. I don't think it will change completely, but has anyone put this on their car and found any difference.

Reason I'm asking is that I just had the tranny rebuilt and this part was highly recommended by a friend who builds trannies (but lives 4hrs away). I'm about to go to the guy who built it to see if I put this in will he honor the warranty. Or again has anyone had good or bad experiences with this part.

Putting a vacuum modulator in a 4L60E will certainly do one thing...It will burn it up in very short time. We get many in our shop that we have to take them out of, so the transmissions will work right and not get cooked.

I use them on the majority of 4L60E's that I build, and they work very well. But as you see there are differing opinions on this.

 

I ran a vacuum modulated 4L60E for 2 1/2 years straight with no problems before pulling it to swap in a T56. I made around 20-30 passes with that transmission and drove it 20-30 miles every day, so I'd say that it worked pretty well.

 

Hey Allen, We run theses without problems, the nice thing about the Vac. Mod is you can run max pressure on demand by simply disconnecting the vacuum line, That'll put you in max pressure ...if your trans has a good build done to it you should have no problems...Hope this helps Dave

Sorry to bring an old thread up from the dead, but I'd rather do that than start a new one. I am swapping from a T56 to a 4l60E, and I just stumbled across this conversion from electronic control to vacuum modulated. My question is, does this kit truly replace all electronic controls, meaning I can keep my M6 ECM and wiring harness, AND is there a way to retain the TCC lockup function? If so, then I think this will be the way to go for me rather than swapping harnesses and getting the ECM reflashed.

 

No. you still need electronics to control the shift solenoids, 3-2 down solenoid, PWM solenoid, and lock-up.

Again, I advise to stay away from the vacuum modulators unless you want to tear stuff up.

Hmmm, I wonder why they(Transgo and vendors) advertise it as a conversion for swapping a 4L60E into a non-computer-controlled car????? Maybe there's a lot more that goes with it and my reading skills are failing me.

 

because they also sell a full manual (stick shift) kit for the valve body

 

That's what I figured, as I really couldn't see a simple modulator doing away with all of the electronics.

Anyone have an auto wiring harness they want to sell me?
