Trans slipping above 2-2500 RPM? Please Help!
Ok, the car is not mine so ignore my sig. The car is 99 LS1 with around 60k on it, it has a 4L60e with a 3200 stall. The car was doing fine at first but now whenever it goes above 2000 to 2500 rpms it just slips and revs. It really doesnt even slip at that point, it feels like it isnt engaging at all. It doesnt matter what gear its in either, its just when its in that rpm range. The first time it happened it actually revved up to the rev limiter? When the car is down at low rpms it will drive? The transmission fluid smells a little funny but then Im no expert fluid sniffer so I dont know? The car had some editing done to it when it was purchased used.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich

Yeah, he took the pan off, replaced the filter, fluid and when he did there was metal all over the magnet too : (
My friend actually just got the car some months ago and really hadnt driven it that much. I guess the person who sold it didnt want it to be their headache? Oh well looks like hes going bigger and better this time?
Thanks for the help guys!
