As for the flex plate I always use at least a mild (blue) lock tight and even on the torque converter bolts. As far as the bell housing bolts a good you know its tight will do ad long as all bolts are present.

Flexplate to crankshaft 74 lb ft. Transmission to engine 35 lb ft.

Thanks for all the help. As of now, one of the heads of my flex plate to crankshaft bolts is rounded off. Trying to think of the easiest way to get it off, then in goes the transmission. Any suggestions to get it off quickly and easily?

you can also undo... not all the way the two rear cradle bolts. I think when we first did it... that bolt was a bitch... lots of extentions and a swivle was even invovled when we lowered the cradle. Now when doing the trans we get it with a wrench with out lowering the cradle.
