trans problems---- help

Ok this is the deal, the trans only has 7,000 miles on the rebuild with a shift kit and new stock converter. I took it to the track the last two weeks and when it shifts there it hits the rev limit in 2-3 shift. When i leave the track it seems ok.

Now the bad part, i got up and started the car , drove up the road [no shift in drive, staying in 1st] i drove at 2-3,000 rpm for about 1 mile before it shift to 2nd, then seemed ok when it warmed up. Could it be that it was to cold , but it never did it before when i just jumped in it.

could the filter need chage already, or is the trans on its way out already.

please help

thanks

Whoever rebuilt it probably didn't modify the 3-4 clutch pack correctly. These transmissions can be built to take quite a beating, but you have to know what weak points need addressed. Stock 4L60E's have a large array of pressure problems and "holding power" issues...Unfortunately most transmission builders don't even know about them.

A rev limiter 2-3 shift is usually related to the 3-4 clutches going out. When the clutches go, they contaminate the fluid, and shed clutch material, and metal throughout the transmission. The other problems you spoke of are probably due to that contamination sticking a valve in the valvebody.
