Get car up on jackstands, jack the tranny up some, undo four bolts that hold cross piece on, remove/replace mount, redo bolts, lower tranny, tighten bolts, take off jackstands, enjoy a frosty beverage

Javier 97. Your picture does not make any sense. The one on the left is for another cross menber by the large difference in height, is it not. The one on the right looks like the correct height for an Auto trans for a 93-97 LT1 F-body. I have a 1LE trans mount, and mine does not look like the one on the left. What gives. Thanks.

It's been probably 3 years since I changed it out.. but I'm 99% sure I went via part # for this and got what I ordered. As far as I could tell my stocker was collapsed and broken, which is the difference in height u are seeing.

Your correct Javier. I looked at my 1LE which I purchased from SLP app 7 years ago, and it is similar to the picture on the left. I could not find my old standard mount. It was not broke when I replaced it. Your old mount must have colapsed. Thanks.

Re: Trans Mount - Whats the story for A4's?

i went through a few trans mounts myself, then i finally postead about it and ended up goin with the LS1 style mount. it seems to be a lot better, havent broken it yet anyway and it seems to feel sturdier than the original did even when it was new *shrug* but be warned if u change from the old style to the ls1 style.. i found out the hard way while i had mine apart and nothin else to drive that the nut for the ls1 mount is a M12x1.75.. quite a bit bigger than the one for the old style. save urself some problems and get it before u get under the car lol. wish ilda been warned

Recieved the mount today.. It looks just like the one on the left of the picture. I'll try and post what my stock one looks like, I think my mounts fully torn off because of how easily it'll bang under the car now :O

1LE from jason C. 38$
I heard mixed results with the LS1 one.. let us know how it lasts! If this 1LE one breaks within the year ill switch to poly and hopefully the vibes wont be too bad since I already have poly engine mounts

Re: Trans Mount - Whats the story for A4's?

I've heard of people putting hose clamps around the tranny mount to keep it from pulling apart. You might try that on an OEM. I don't have this probably i have an M6 with a Polymount.

I was under the impression that they werent selling 1LE's anymore...damn, I should have saw this thread. My LS1 was $55 from Dal, the GM part store at the dealership here wanted $90+

Damn $55 a piece. I'd just go get one from autozone for $10 and do the hose clamps rather than spending all that cash.

Re: Trans Mount - Whats the story for A4's?

I'd rather not mess with clamping although now I kinda wish I got a 1LE version. We'll see how it goes. I wouldnt normally spend the money, but after driving around a new lady friend of mine , I could tell it was somewhat annoying having her seat and floor board shaking violently.
