Trans Mount - Whats the story for A4's?

Anyone know what the deal is with A4 transmisison mounts? My one tore after 4 years... again

Searching I found mixed info on Poly transmission mounts. Some say they cause tonnes of vibration in the car on A4's... I saw 1 or two A4 people though who say it was tottaly fine.

Are there any decent Poly Transmission mounts for A4's out there that aren't problematic?

Whats the difference between the 1LE mounts and stock ones?

i noticed a good amount of vibration after putting mine in, but without it i'd keep on tearing up the stock ones. you have to sacrifice somewhere i guess

i went through about 5 oem mounts in about 6 months. the switched to a poly mount. i never really noticed much vibration. then again i wouldnt have cared considering how long oem ones lasted. but really, not as bad as what i hear some people saying.

You can't get the "regular" version anymore.. just the 1LE type. I replaced mine with the newer 1LE type and have not broken once since on 1.6x 60' times.

Same here Javier. I've had a 1LE for several years now and have been pulling 1.6s for some time. Still haven't broken it yet.

I broke my oem mount 3 times in about a year then went to a poly mount. after the poly mount I noticed the car vibrated MUCH more but I never broke it. guess thats the price you pay.

I broke three in a year and went to a poly one. Mine Vibrates really bad over 75 MPH i gotta see if thats what it is or maybe my DS needs to be balanced. Ive had the poly one for 6 months now and I would never go back.

I think ill go for the "OEM" (1le) replacement... Any way for me to tell if I got an "older" stock replacement part, or the newer 1LE mount? (in case they have old inventory lying around)

Toby,
1LE parts have a blue spray paint dot on them, z28 parts have a pink spray dot on them.

I wouldnt use the Prothane or ES mount alone... in my opinion they work best with their motor mounts too. With all 3 mounts in place the drivetrain will line up correctly which should reduce the vibration problems.

Thats what i did. Replaced the trans and motor mounts with the poly ones and to me they seem to vibate less. I cant even tell they vibate at all.

Get a mount for an ls1. They fit and they are a better and stronger design.

Re: Trans Mount - Whats the story for A4's?

I swapped from stock mounts (after I broke three of them), to a prothane mount. vibrated like crazy so i went with a 1le. It hasnt broke yet. I got to thinking, and I'd rather break a trans mount then have something else be the weak link in the drivetrain.

Re: Trans Mount - Whats the story for A4's?

Update:
Thanks for the great info! Had no idea about the blue dot thing either

I went price hunting out here for a stock replacement transmission mount - They wanted 128 Cdn at the dealership! (about 105 USD?)

I decided to order it through jason cromer instead. As usual, the price difference was insane... $38 USD for the mount! Calculating all the other savings for the other parts I wanted to get, I was able save 60% or so even after I factor in the fees from the border

I do have ES Poly engine mounts, I might just "try" an ES poly trans mount if I can get it for 20$ or so (if I get bored during the summer to see if its a big difference ) - It would be nice to know for sure if there is a big difference with vibrations if you have Poly motor mounts vs Stock mounts with a poly trans mount.

I hear changing mounts is easy, anyone want to post a quick step by step/Tips? I know enough to jack the car up, and jack the transmission up next... then ???
