Trans cooler lines
Trans cooler lines
On Shoebox's website there is a picture of the A4 radiator. It has an inlet and outlet for the "Auto trans cooler." Ever since i bought the car there has never been anything hooked up to these spots. My trans lines run into two rubber hoses coming from behind the lower passenger side of the radiator. Is this an aftermarket cooler that has been added...? Or are the hoses just ran directly to the trans instead of through the radiator.
Also while on the topic of "hoses". One of my heater hoses that contains a bleeder screw needs to be replaced. Theres the 2 screws, one of thermostat housing and the other on heater house. The one on my heater hose has had the screw taken out, a bolt stuck in it, and welded to it. I hate idiots like the guy who had the car before me, doing stupid, nonsense things and such
. Is there any way i can get just that metal piece where the bleed screw is, and attach the hoses back to both ends of it, and clamp it. I can't seem to find one anywhere, as im not sure what its really called, and i dont want to buy a complete heater hose assembly

Re: Trans cooler lines
Anyone? Really confused >.<. Ive seen wher it says thats a "trans oil cooler".... This is strange. Doesnt the actual engine oil cooler run a line to radiator and water pump? Am i just getting something that is labeled wrong or what? I have my radiator, and down in the passenger corner theres a very tiny one. (See above where the lines come from) need to informed what exactly the two inlet and outlets for on my radiator, and what this could be mounted behind my radiator.
Also any info on the heater hose bleed screw would be nice

Re: Trans cooler lines
Yes, sounds like you have an aftermarket trans cooler and the stock one in the radiator is bypassed. Nothing is labeled wrong.
You can separate individual hoses to work on or replace them or parts. That info is on my site, also. If you need a metal piece, you may need to visit a bone yard.

Re: Trans cooler lines
Ah, well, that may be difficult. In my recent search for a new dipstick tube when my trans was replaced, every yard in the west part of this state had no camaros. One yard had a 3.4.... Pretty sure it wont work since the water pump isnt cam driven on the 3.4 right? (Ended up paying $40 for a new tube and stick included on ebay.) It works fine, but now i really want to fix everything that is messed with on this car. If you know where any 93-94 camaros are that may have one, let me know. Ill pay for it plus reasonable shipping if you know where one is.
Also, would it be better to re route the trans cooler back to the radiator? Currently the radiator is going to get cleaned thoroughly as my friend spotted some junk in it.(could be causing my overheating, that plus the fans not working) So once it is cleaned what exactly would be needed to put them back on? There must be some sort of connection as my lines are no where near the inlet and outlet.. Do you think it would be more efficient and/or better just to go back to stock anyway?
Also, didnt know if you thought i accused you of labeling wrong
i did not. I meant somewhere else listed an oil cooler for the transmission and i thought "well thats stupid..?" All your information is 100% accurate imo.
EDIT: actually the piece i need is the metal piece with the bleed screw in your picture on your link to the site...lol

Re: Trans cooler lines
Im pretty sure i do have the oil cooler, i spotted the lines in my recent oil and filter change, and didn't see anything to bypass the hoses. I was mainly confused by the fact my trans lines hooked up somewhere other than the radiator. To be completely honest, i thought it was actually stock until i saw that picture on Shoebox's website. It does work good enough, i could tell when my line popped off during a test drive.
Ty guys for all the clarity.
Also, i will update my other thread about the car cutting off, and the codes. My cable is currently in transit from Chicago. Will most likely be here this upcoming week.
