Trans blowing fluid
Trans blowing fluid
I have a 1992 Camaro RS w/ a 3.1 liter V-6 & 700R4 trans. Last week I was driving and I noticed that I was losing tranny fluid all over the bottom of my car. It appeared to me that I blew out the pan gasket. I pulled the flywheel and tourqe converter cover and it was as dry as a bone. The lines are in good shape. Last night it did it again. It almost seems as if when the tranny get hot it is blowing all of the fluid? I really do not know where to start. I read the troubleshooting manual and it suggests that it is either the filler tube o-ring or the o-ring on the speedo. PLEASE HELP!!!!
ahhhhhhh yeah, towards the front of the pan on your tranny on the case of the trans the filler tube comes into it, make sure thats in there all the way... the speedo sensor is on the tail end of the tranny, theres a little bolt thing that holds that in, check to make sure the sensor is in all the way, haha but it sounds like your pan is loose and fluids shooting outa there, drop your pan, change the filter and gasket, put the pan back on, tighten the bolts to the specs, fill the tranny back up, or just take it in to get it done if you cant do that kinda stuff yourself. if you do drop the pan yourself make sure you clean the sh*t off the bottom and on the magnet
Make sure it's not coming out the breather on top either. My converter went out several years ago and built up so much heat it boiled the fluid which went out the breather. Nasty stuff.
Unfortunately, the only way I can think of checking the breather would be to drop the slushbox.
