TRANNYSTUCK In 2nd

I had my tranny rebuilt about 1.5yrs ago and I had them install a B&M Shift Kit with the Street/Drag set up. About 2 months ago i replaced the fluid with royal purple but i only dropped the pan and changed that fluid out. All the other fluid in the torque converter and lines was not drained out.

Problem :
Sometimes (once a week maybe) the tranny will not shift from 2nd to 3rd and the rpms will go as high as I allow them to. I throw the car into neutral and pop it back into Drive and it shifts normal again

This only happens when I go about 1/2 way on the throttle. It will happen when the car is cold or warm.

I dont know if maybe the old tranny fluid was not synthetic and this royal purple is and it is causing a chemical reaction or if my tranny is starting to tell me that its going out again

At the time of the fluid change I also changed the filter and there was shavings in the pan but i figured that was somewhat normal right?

Your responses are greatly appreciated
Thanks

The B&M shift kits will usually burn up a trans. Sounds like your due for a rebuild now.

again?????
any reccomendations as far as changing the tranny oil again???
This happened as soon as i put the royal purple synthetic oil and took it out for a test drive...that is why i am questioning this because it seems weird

Might as well save up now, different fluid will only buy you time, at best.

Rebuilt autos almost never last as long as the originals.

I Guess my question is if different type of tranny fluids mixed together can cause your transmission to shift improperly. For example, non-synthetic mixed with synthetic. The reason I ask is because as soon as I changed the tranny oil and pulled out the driveway, the car did this but then it went away...

Is this actually a common problem, or did you hear of 1 case of this happening, so you're assuming that all B&M kits burn up trannies? I put a B&M kit into my car a couple months ago and it seems to shift fine?

Re: TRANNYSTUCK In 2nd

Same Here...i Put In A B&m Shift Kit About 1 1/2 Years Ago And It Was Shifting Perfectly Fine...nice Firm Shift From 1-3rd And Then Overdrive Was A Lot Smoother.....

I Dont Want To Blame The Shift Kit Because It Happened As Soon As The Tranny Fluid Was Replaced

I Was Thinking Maybe Since I Used Synthetic And It Has Detergents To Clean Up The Tranny I Figured It Did Its Job And The Filter Might Be Plugged...can This Be A Possibility?

Re: TRANNYSTUCK In 2nd

Almost none of the 4L60Es seem to last more than 100k miles or so...

And my tranny took a crap a few months after I changed the fluid & filter. Oh well, if I get another one I guess I'll just leave it alone. Kind of wierd having something that could fail if you do maintenance on it.

Re: TRANNYSTUCK In 2nd

WELL BEFORE I REBUILT MY TRANNY, I TOOK IT TO JIFFY LUBE TO HAVE IT
FLUSHED AND THEY WOULDNT REPLACE THE FILTER BECAUSE THEY SAID
THE FLUSH WOULD CLEAR OUT THE FILTER LIKE NEW...SO I FELL FOR IT. I LEFT JIFFY LUBE AND DROVE OFF AND IT WAS SHIFTING FIRMLY AND WAS
CHIRPING GOING INTO 2ND AND I WAS LIKE ...SHOULD HAVE KNOWN
THAT THOSE WERE JUST SIGNS THAT MY TRANNY WAS GOING OUT. 3 DAYS LATER MY CAR NEVER SHIFTED INTO OVERDRIVE AND ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER
GOING TO MY HOUSE I WAS SLOWING DOWN AND FELT THE CAR SHIFTING INTO 2ND AND WHEN I GAVE IT GAS AT THE SAME TIME ALL I HEARD WAS
LOUD GRINDING AND FROM THERE MY CAR WAS RUNNING AT 3500RPMS GOING ABOUT 10MPH UNTIL I GOT HOME AND HAD IT TOWED THE NEXT DAY AND HAD THE TRANNY REBUILT AND THE B&m SHIFT KIT THROWN IN.
