tranny swap questions

Going to swap a t56 out of a 95 firebird into my 94 TA, just wondering if it is a obd2 computer if that will be much to put into my obd1 car, and what are the signs to tell if it is a obd1 or obd2 pc in the first place. Also wondering if the driveshafts are the same for the manual and auto trannies or do i need to get one from a manual. Also, will my auto pc work with a manual tranny or do you have to put a manual pc in the car.

Re: tranny swap questions

The trans doesnt matter if its obd 1 or 2, I put a t56 from a 97 camaro in my old 95 TA with no issues. The driveshafts are the same and you can use the auto PCM but I think it throws a couple codes but doesnt affect performance at all. You could always get one of the many PCM tuners to reflash your PCM with an M6 tune..

If you stay with the auto PCM your speedo will read less than 1/2 of what your real speed is.

It wouldn't make any difference if they were out of an OBD-I and an OBD-II, but it doesn't matter, since both the 1994 and the 1995 are OBD-I.

You need to get the PCM reflashed with an M6 program. It eliminates any possible codes for the missing 4L60E interface, and makes your speedo read correctly.
