Tranny problem help

Okay if I drive for a long period on the highway or WOT on the highway. After when I pull into town at a stop sign it will accellerate slowly but revs higher. After it sits for a bit I will not do it, Just a long period. Even If I drive highway speed after a long period it will do it.

Shifts fine, firm crisp etc, doesnt hit redline shifts before so gears dont slip.

Thanks for any help

Are you sure it starting off in 1st gear and not second when it does this?

I dunno it is a an auto. But It feels exactly as if it was a standard and I was letting out the clutch slowly and give it gas. You know how you rev the car enough and let out the clutch slow enough so you dont dump it. But instead let it out really slow.

I can drive anywhere around town, same amount of time as going on the highway but after the highway it does this. I drove once normal no Wot and still did not so it never had abuse

actually the one time it also just revved like in neutral, then it seemed like something broke free and it accellerated. It only went to no more than 1500 rpm and it broke free and started moving.

You should have it scannd for codes and if it has all the gears you should feel it shift 3 times. But the bind up kinda sounds like and internal issue. But first thing is get it scanned for codes an if there are any post them up you can ussally get like autozone to do a code read.

I did scan it and nothing. And yes it has all the gears

It must be something with the torque converter. I can even leave it in drive and it will not roll forward. Feels just like letting out the clutch slowly on a manual car. You rev higher and let out the clutch, that is how mine feels.

It could either be the converter, or the forward clutches slipping. Early 4L60E's are known for cracking the forward pistons, also.

okay will something like the clutchs or converter slip all the time or will it need some time to heat up and start slipping. Cause it only did it when I was crusin down the highway at normal speed for a half hour to another city. It won't do it if Im just crusin around town.

Yes, some problems will be more evident when the fluid heats up. Fluid acts the same way as oil. It loses pressure slightly when it gets hot/thinner.

okay I also noticed too now all the time go to the highway and go say 2000 rpm 60mph 3.42 gearing and tap the brake the motor will actually rev about 300 rpm higher. Sounds like when u downshift you know and the rpms jump up, but in this case the tranny doesnt shift just the engine revs a bit. Then if you step harder and make the tranny shift it will go like snot. But dont step on the brake and make it rev up, it will take a bit more pedal to make it shift and take off, like it bogs and just goes buuuu slow response.

This sounds more like your just locking and unlocking the converter, which would be normal as would the bog feeling till you give enough throttle to unlock the converter and or downshift

okay I thought maybe that was related to my initional problem stated at the begginning of the post. But its normal so great.

But back to the initial problem, now when I come to a complete stop and it acts up and doesnt want to roll forward even when ur not touching the brakes, all I do is place in neutral and it shifts right away, then I just rev it up a couple times, and then place back in drive, its works again and wants to roll forward and u need to put your foot on the brakes. But if you dont rev it up you just have to keep pushing the gas the car revs then clunk it starts moving like it should. And after that wont do it anymore driving aorund town.

From that condition and if it full of fluid it does sounds like you may have and internal issue.
