Tranny Problem on 4L60e

well i think i'm about to fork over some cash and get it rebuilt but i want to make sure it isn't something small first..... i've posted this before but with no replys.... but the car just will not shift at full throttle, the only way i can get it to shift it to rev it up to 3500 (which coincidentally is the stall convertor that i have a TCI 3500) and then just let off the gas, the rpms drop and you can feel it shift into 2nd..... then i do the same thing all the way up to 3500 in 2nd and let off the gas it goes down and then shifts into 3rd...... it won't go into 4th at all and when i punch it in 1st it don't slip but in 2nd it slips and 3rd it doesn't..... it's an A4 by the way... someone told me something about a governor?? or something in the tranny that you have to almost over rev the car to get it to shift..... i dunno but is it coincidence that the rpm i have to get my car up to to make it shift is the exact same as my torque convertor stall ?? someone help me out here.... thanks...

You have a lot of misinformation here, 1st the 4L60E does not have a governor, the torque converter stall has very little to do with the shift points, unless you a totally mismatched torque converter to engine/cam/rear end gear ratio combination. If you are getting slip in 2nd gear & no 4th , but still have 3rd gear, the 2-4 band is most likely gone.
