tranny problem??
tranny problem??
ok, so I just got my car back a week ago for getting engine repairs...now just starting today, i need lots of throttle to get moving from the light, and when i do give it more throttle it still kind bogs up to 2500 rpms, then feels smooth but doesnt wanna shift until higher rpms and some other stuff like that.....is my tranny crapping out on me??!
Re: tranny problem??
When you say
does it feel like the engine is bogging down or do you fel like it is not grabbing or slipping til 2500? If it is bogging down, then it might not be trans related and your shift points are determined by TPS, if it is bogging down for an engine related problem and you are pushing the petal further reading a higher TPS signal then it will shift later then you feel it should be. Are you sure it is a bogging down feeling you are experiancing? The tranny shouldn't feel that way, but sometimes strange crap happens
Also what engine repairs was it in for??

Re: tranny problem??
well it just feels sluggish but picks up smoothly when the rpms climb. I just looked under the car...my straight pipe un attatched from the header ypipe..no could this account for the EXTRA noise at lower RPMS...and the sluggish feel...IE no back pressure probably??

Also you still have not said what problems you had when you had it in for engine repairs.
Re: tranny problem??
Ok I am still a little tired this morning, but I think that if it smooths out then it probably isn't the valvetrain adjustment. But it sounds strange to have the trans bog the motor down at just below 2500 rpms. Have you tried giving it less throttle even though it is bogging down a little to see if the trans shifts at a better spot. (Refer to my first responce)
Also is this only happening at part throttle?

Re: tranny problem??
just took it for a spin after putting some plug wire heat sleeves on. again...feels like it needs lots of throttle to get moving..but even with like 3/4 throttle still moves as slow as with partial throttle...just louder, until you hit around 2k rpms and it feels like its running smooth then has a jerky shift...not what im used to...then it felt bogged again again accelerating towards 3rd gear in 2nd gear going uphill...like theres no torque
my friend told me since my number 6 wre boot is melting away..prolly causing some kinda misfire that im not feeling.
i hate this ****ing car
