Tranny Problem????

Hey, I am new to the forum and to owning a Z28. I just bought a 98 Z A4 and noticed that if I am in Overdrive it requires that I push in the button on the shifter to shift it into drive. I know this is normal function, but the problem is that if it is in Drive I can just move the shifter into 2nd and 1st without depressing the button on the shifter. Can any one tell me if this is normal or do I have a problem. I personally think that something is wrong. Thanks for the help.

I really dont think anything is wrong. I f something is out of the ordinary it may just be something small with the shifter assembly, but I really wouldnt worry about it. Somebody correct me if im wrong.

Does anyone else have any input on the problem? I just on't like it that when I am driving down the road and if somebody bumps the shifter it will go down into a lower gear. Any more input would be helpful.

When I had my auto I did that a couple of times If you are really concerned about it, take it to a shop and see what they say, maybe something in your shifter assy. is broken. Hope that helps
