Tranny Plug In?

I have a 95 Trans Am with the 4L60E Transmission and it is bad. Expensive as hell to replace untill I found this site called Mad Dog Transmissions which had one with a shift kit for like 1200.00. These guys built my 700R4 for my 84 Trans Am and it is the **** so anyways the gentleman which I spoke to asked me if the tranny in my 95 has a 12 or a 13 prong connector that controls the tranny. I just wanted to pick you brains and see if any of you know being as you help me with my rear end noise. Thanks, Rick

Re: Tranny Plug In?

95 SHOULD be the 13, since they added a wire in 95

Oddly, that 13th wire is probably the modulated lockup, which you don't want in a performance build.

Dude you are the ultimate source of knowledge. I just wanted to say thanks for not only me but everyone else that may not. I am a tech at a tranny shop, and without people like you out there, people would be in the dark on not only this topic but many others. I salute you for the stuff you do for this "hobby" we all share. Your shared knowledge and information is greatly appreciated man!

Also, what the other guy said is correct. The extra wire is for pulse width modulation of the lockup solenoid. Was a great idea for comfortable TCC apply, but its a really bad idea for race cars. You want lockup to either be on or off and quickly. I do believe there is a way to reverse this so you dont have to get a different core or valve body but I cant remember how to do it right now. If they're going to build it for you tho, just ask them, they SHOULD know how.

Yeah, you can disable the modulated lockup feature in your tranny & valve body - that's what i did.
