Tranny Out!

hey yall wanna say never let friends drive ya car!! well i let a friend use my car and guess what came back wit the tranny sliping 1-2 and then i have no gears so.. what i wanna know is i have a 96 caprice lt-1 is the tranny the same in the carice as in my camaro trhere the same years i wanna know will it fit? ok and when i put the tranny out the caprice in what do u guys think rebuild it?if so what the best place in new orleans area if any u guys knows thankz!

I also have a 96 camaro the trans blew out in, i asked this general question as well and i found one sure answer.
You need to talk to Frank at CPT, his shipping rates are very affordable, his rebuild pricing is even better, and his rep is soooooooo high on this site its not even funny. He builds some nice transmissions and is a very imformative and pleasant guy to talk to. Once i get some cash together (in time) i will be getting my 4L60E rebuilt through him. Give him a call just for the heck of it and see what he can offer you. From what i spoke to him about, his reputation advertised here and on his site, and general knowlege, you wont regret it.

man i know someone knows something bout these trannys. well a 60e out of a 96 caprice the same is in my camaro? i know u might have to change the converter. i just wanna use this till i get the one outta my camaro rebuilt. i wass looking at the CPT's website and what is hardparts?

Yes the 96 caprice and the camaro share the same trans you will only need to swap tail housings and your a go.

so is the tail housings hard to change?how bout the converters r they the same because if there not i gonna stall it or buy a stock converter.
