tranny mount seems shot at 48K miles on 94Z A4

I'm cleaning up a bunch of lil problems on my buddy's 94 Z28 (because once I can I talked him into putting a turbo onto the thing) but worst of them seems to be a busted tranny mount. He's had it since 99 and put about 10-15K of the miles on, and hanging out with Kelly

but is it normal to break that early, on a mildly modified vehicle? For the most part my buddy drives the car like a fairy. I took out teh motor mounts on my tahoe when it still had a 350 and a procharger in a few thousand miles, but I was blowing posis, trannies etc. at the same time. Just didn't think it would die so early, then again it still is a 11 year old car...

Get the LS1 tranny mount ... they're not as extreme as getting a polyurethane Energy Suspension mount (which cause excessive vibration inside the car ), but they're better constructed than the LT1 mounts .

I have the ES poly mount, vibration didnt increase from the stock mount. We'll see when I put the Prothane motor mounts in.

It may not get worse in all cases, but it happened to myself and my friend's '97 Z28. As well, there was a thread on here a few months back where several guys posted about suffering excessive vibration after installing an ES tranny mount ... seems it's a common enough problem. Now I'm not saying that the mount "creates" the vibration ... it's likely the driveshaft or something, but the ES mount isn't as "forgiving" as the stock LT1 or LS1 mounts. IMO, the LS1 mount seems like a good comprimise.

I agree with the capn, get an LS1 mount or just go back to the stock LT1 mount. I had a ES mount and it created a lot of vibration, replaced it with the stock mount and smooth sailing. Easy fix, takes about 10 min. Good luck
