From what I've always read in LT1 tech, the A4 guys didn't like the poly mount because of the added vibration. I had an ES poly mount in my '96 (M6) and it wasn't bad at all but it's supposed to be a lot worse with an A4.

I heard the 1LE tranny mounts are supposed to be a little stiffer than stock but they last a lot longer and dont vibrate like the poly mounts. I would call the dealer and see if you can get a part number

I've broken several tranny mounts (because of too much engine flex ~ now fixed) and the stock one is pretty good unless you are running SERIOUS hp (above 450).

Try www.gmpartsdirect.com for a good price on a mount. Dealers are known for overcharging.

Hey any of you have a part #? I did a search for transmission mount, and nothing. Looked under rear suspension and transmission, and nothing. THanks.

The mount could have been defective from the factory, cuz 330 is average stock hp (gm underrated it). I'm pushing 375 (at the flywheel - dynoed), and it is working fine for me. He could have just gotten a bad one. I'm just saying it has worked good for me.

The only reason mine broke was that I had a overstressed right engine mount, and a broken left engine mount putting extreme stress on the tranny mount, which caused it to break.

If you are worried about the stock mount not being up to the job, then try out a poly mount. But it won't be as smooth as stock. The choice is yours. Just pick whichever one you feel the best about.

You could do it the roundabout way. Go to the dealer, give the car info and ask them to right down the price and the part # for you. Then compare the price with www.gmpartsdirect.com and see if you can save any money.

get the ES poly mount. You only want to do this one time.

Its not a defective unit from stock if you break it.. Its just inferior. My friend went throught 3 then went poly. I went poly after my first. I have an M6 now and will go poly when this one breaks.

I have spoken with ES about their tranny mount. The preload bar can be tossed if you like. I personally ran mine with it as specified in the instructions.
While you are there, may as well get the ES poly torque arm bushing as well. Its more of a pain to install but its definately worth it IMO.

hey guys, sorry for the ignorance here. I am 85% sure it is a broken tranny mount. My problem is on a downshift, or when I apply light brake pressure, and let off as in coming up to a stop light, it pops. Sounds horrible. It started after having my 4L60E race prepped, so I believe the tranny mount somehow broke. Also, I have a spohn torque arm, so won't need the Torque arm bushings.

Ok, sorry for the ignorance here, but how is a poly mount "Noisy"?? And what is an ES mount? Let's make sure I know what a transmission mount is: On the tailshaft of the tranny, there are 4 bolts which allow the transmission to sag, and squat down. Then there are 2 bolts which hold that bar to the transmission, and that rubber piece inside that bar is the transmission mount, correct ? I am going to drop it down on Thursday, and check to see if I see any visible damage to this mount. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

For the record, I have a 3600 stall torque converter in my car, and that's why my hp is a little low. I previously dynoed at 342rwhp, and 355rwtq, but with the torque converter, I consistently dyno 332rwhp and 375rwtq. I believe it's the torque putting the stress on the tranny mount, or am I incorrect?

your tq #'s seem to be like 30-40 high fyi as they are not nearly inline with what your 1/4 mile times are.
