Re: Tranny mount???

It's not hard at all. Lift the car on jacks, then use a bottle jack and place it under the tranny area. Remove the brace that support the tranny, it also has the mount on it as well. Unbolt the tranny mount from the bottom of the tranny and the brace. Place the new mount back on the tranny first, put the brace back on. Then bolt everything back together. It should take less then an hour to do.

Re: Tranny mount???

It's about a 30 minute swap if you don't screw around. 75% of your time will be spent jacking the car up and then getting it off the jacks. The other ~7-8 minutes you will be removing the old mount and bolting the new on in place.

Only 11 second factory freaks can break the stock tranny mount.

Re: Tranny mount???

i broke the mount in my old 94z and it was maybe a high 13 car, never had that one at a track, but its a common problem spend an extra 15 bucks and buy a energy suspension tranny mount you can get them at autozone,i've had no problem in my current z with this mount and its running high 12's,so it is taking some abuse,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,good luck

Don't worry....it's very easy. Takes 20 minutes the first time.

Re: Tranny mount???

It took me 23 minutes to do mine. That was with the time to find the tools, jack up the car, and burn the sh*t out of my hand because i had been 'testing' the car all day, which is how i broke the damn thing.

You can get a new mount from Advanced Auto for like $6.73. It shouldnt take you long at all. Now as for the transmission filter..... never replace it yourself, especially when it's hot and you only jacked the car up a few inches. When that pan falls, YOU NEED TO MOVE!

Re: Tranny mount???

I just replaced mine last Thursday.
I got a rubber one from AutoZone for $11.99 (Advance was $18.99 for the exact same part).
I had a Poly one and I felt a bad vibration in the whole floor pan between 54 and 58 MPH. I had tried 2 driveshafts, 3 different sets of wheels/tires, and had replaced the rear U-joint. Still there. I knew it must have been the urethane mount feeding it into the structure.
I don't know if it was due to the material or the slight change in driveshaft angle, but it's much smoother now.
