Tranny Issues after new engine
Tranny Issues after new engine
1996 , LT1, T56 tranny
Tranny will not go into reverse running or not, and it's a little hard to get into each other gear. New clutch and pressure plate. Had the flywheel turned and installed shims
I checked the fuse for the reverse lockout it's fine, also unplugged the reverse lockout no luck on either...
Are there vacuum lines or anything else we could have left off causing the tranny not to go into reverse??

Re: Tranny Issues after new engine
If the clutch isn't releasing fully, getting it into reverse seems to become a major problem. When I installed a used Street Twin, we tried it with the stock slave cylinder, and it was slightly hard to move into the other gears, but moving it into reverse was extremely difficult. We just had to install the slave that came with the clutch, because it had already been sleeved (required, before McLeod came out with the adjustable master).
You mentioned the reverse lockout. That only prevents the shift lever from moving to the right into the reverse "gate". If its going into the gate without excessive pressure, the reverse lockout is not the problem.

Re: Tranny Issues after new engine
we had the same clutch in it before with the shim and everything, and after we did the engine rebuild we bought a new clutch, but it was the same clutch that was in it before. we also added another shim to it, im not sure if that has anything to do with it, since its the only thing we changed since is worked last..
