Tranny acts wierd after peel out.

Okay i got a 1994 Camaro Z28, with the stock Tranny(Automatic). The problem i need to find out is why my tranny kinda gives out, Everytime i peel out, i push tha gas and tha car revs up but the tranny is kinda weak like it will move but wont get in gear, sounds like a manual tranny when u dont put in gear. The tranny drives all good except when i peel out. it shifts nice when im racng and all. What could the problem be? I told a mechanic a lil bit of what happens he told me it could be that i need to flush tha tranny with new fluids. Can any one help?

Re: Tranny acts wierd after peel out.

Can you explain this a little better? There are people on here from all over the place, so I am sorry can you explain "peel out"! Do you mean when you spin the tires? or is it like after doing donuts/cookies?

You said it shifts fine when racing so I am not sure, don't you spinn the tires or peel out at the begining of a race?

Is the TC stock as well? I know that when I put my 3500 stall converter in that if I smoked the tires (warming them up for a race), spinning too much off the line, or cutting a good 60' the tranny would go into limp home mode, and just giving 3rd gear so from a stop it would be like starting a malual in 4th gear and slipping the clutch until it got into the RPM range it needed to be in.
I got it fixed with programming, I think, I haven't been to the track since it was fixed, damn snow!

Unfortunately, this is one I'd have to drive to experience what's going on. If it feels like it's in neutral, than this means somethings not holding properly in the transmission. Changing the fluid/filter probably isn't going to fix the problem. Sorry I can't help more, but we're 3000 miles apart, so I can't exactly test drive it

Well, when i rev tha Z28 up, then put it in "D" it peels out nice everything, then after that, stop at a red light or stop sign i push the gas pedel, and it wont get in drive it moves but its reving, like if your in a manual tranny and not puttin it in gear. The car is stil movin just not the way its suppose to no takin off if like u floor tha pedel, What i have to do is park the car, and after a few mins tha car is fne. Its the stock tranny Automatic. Couple times it been leakin tranny fluid, happen like 3 times on me while driving, but that was last year, hasnt happen since. Tha car drives nice, races nice, what do you guys think?

Definatly sounds like you are getting thrown into Limp mode, you may want to look into why.. If it is all stock a bad tranny or something may cause that. but what you are describing is it being in limp mode, search for "limp mode" or "limp home mode" to find more info!

Re: Tranny acts wierd after peel out.

Do all the auto guys rev it up in "N" and throw it in "D" to spin the tires. I think there are better ways that won't tear up your tranny as quickly.

I'm manual so I could be wrong but mom's old automatic minivan didn't hold up when I tried it either

Yea, i jus rev it on "N" Then shift to "D" **** peels out hella nice. Or when i do a brake stand very nice, shift all tha way down and hold tha brake down and floor tha gas pedel, damn i love tha smell of burn rubber.

Re: Tranny acts wierd after peel out.

You are both a little screwed up, if that is what you are doing then you killed your tranny! All I do to spin the tires is press on the gas pedal, no need to neutral drop it! That is a sure fire way to kill $hit!

No im not saying i do a brake stand like that, when i do it i dont floor tha gas pedel on Neutral, that will just rev the engine. Im saying when i want to burn sum tires i just hold tha brake and floor tha gas pedel. Well any wayz how do i fix this limp mode? Cant i just buy a hypertech programmer and fix it that way, my tranny isnt tha probelm i know that now.

If you neutral bomb your tranny, then im pretty sure that the problem is going to be your tranny! Power Brake/Break stand isnt the best way wither but the way to do it until you get some likelocks...I normally wont power break my car, I can just stand on it and light em up no problem.
