Re: tranny
Your 4L60E can be built to handle a large amount of HP. We've got them running 11.0's @ 124 MPH. Launching on a 175 shot...Pulling the front wheels 8" off the ground on a 1.51 60 ft. time.

Re: tranny
Shane,
If you don't race the car, you might get away with a "performance rebuild".
We'd need your transmission to build...We don't have any '97 cores at this time.
You should NEVER reuse a torque converter in a new transmission...Without atleast having it sent back to the manufacturer and having it checked and cleaned out. As a side note, TCI isn't the most reputable 4L60E converter manufacturer, either. I've seen too many TCI converters come apart.

The trans. and converter share "common fluid". This means all the nasty crap from the transmission is now inside the torque converter. When you try putting a used converter in front of a new transmission, you immediately fill the new transmission with all the garbage out of the converter.
No, there's no way to "flush" a torque converter without cutting it apart. I can have your cut and cleaned for around $100...Providing it's not damaged inside.

Re: tranny
Just a little FYI - if it is slipping, it is putting junk (clutch material, and metal) into the fluid and that junk will still be there after the new tranny goes in unless the converter is replaced or sent out to be redone.
