Tranmission not upshifting

throwing this up for someone:

I'm having a problem with my car. When I get up to around 80 (WOT), it'll start bouncing off red-line, and won't shift until I ease off the gas, and get back on it. I just recently took it in, and had the injectors cleaned, transmission flush, radiator flush, blahblah.. All the 70-75,000 mile crap, hoping that would fix it, but it didn't..

I beat on the car quite a bit, but nothing all that serious.. So, any help would be appreciated.

oh yeah, it's a 1998 A4 T/A

Hopefully we hear from someone with some (bad) A4 experience, but my guess is that's the beginning-of-the-end of that transmission. From what I've read, 3rd and 4th gear go out of them fairly regularly.

I sure hope it's not the end of my tranny, it was just rebuilt about 35,000km ago.

I'm having the exact same problem with my 2nd to 3rd gear shift(around 70mph) at WOT... tranny was just rebuilt and it works perfectly except at that point I get some kind of weird hesitation (like hitting a rev limiter but slower)

My car has this problem as well. I have read some post though about possibley a bad pcm or bad tps, anyone think that could be true? First, you have to find out if the PCM is sending out the command for it to shift the 2-3 under WOT, if not, i guess its a bad PCM, if it does, then you go to step two etc.....

I am trying to figure out my 2-3 under WOT as well as many others. If anyone knows of other ways to figure this out, please
get with me on it.

Thanks
-Mike

My PCM was replaced about a year ago and was reprogrammed by PCMforless....I really doubt that the problem is related to the PCM, I'm starting to think that it is just a defect with the tranny.

This is quite a common problem. mine hits the rev limiter 2 or 3 times before shifting into 3rd gear. It didnt do this till I put the Torque converter in.

Your transmission is gone. I broke my transmission twice before I got my high performance rebuild. Your bands and clutch packs are gone. If your on a budget your better off buying a used transmission in the for sale section. If you have some money get it built right so it doesnt break on you anymore. Or get a stronger tranny like the th350 or 400.

Yes I read the thread. If your having a problem after your rebuild then the problem lies within a poor rebuild. A tranny in prefect working order should not have any hesitation in shifting.

If the transmission shifts ok up to about 3/4 throttle, then you are talking about a "oil volume" problem. Most 4L60E's have a "too small" a 3rd gear feed hole in the valve body plate. (1) You can open up the feed hole and put in a larger boost valve, or (2) Go to a "modified" Trans-Go Performance Shift kit. Do you already have the Corvette style servo?, if not this should be done first as this is the best way of starting to address this (2-3 WOT shift) problem.

Finally, someone has been able to shed some new light on this issue! I don't know what a Corvette style servo is, so I'm guessing I don't have one. Can someone help me out here and tell me how/where to get one?

Go to http://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm?f...&productid=112 for the Corvette servo, or try http://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm?f...&productid=111 for the Corvette servo & both boost valves. Let me know if I can be of help?

Thank you... is the servo easy to install or do I have to take it to a shop to get it done?
