trading 7.5 for 8.8

trading 7.5 for 8.8

is it possible to get an 8.8 ford out of a lincon town car or such? is it wide enough or to wide? or any other problems i might face just let me know.

Without knowing what kind/year car you're trying to put the 8.8-inch in, its sort of hard to answer the question. Most likely issue is fabricating the torque arm mount. Try a "search"..... there have been a number of threads in the past on the 8.8-inch Ford rear.

To the best of my knowlege the 8.5 rear from the early 90's Z-71 pick-ups is about 1/2-1" narrower on each side (spacers can correct this). However, you will need to fab up brackets for all of the suspension components, and if you can't do this on your own it will be quite pricy for any axle. By the time you are finished IMO you are better off just buying a new 9" or 12-bolt.
