torque converter not locking

I have replaced the tcc lockup solenoid and that did nothing. I am planning on changing the temp sensor and pressure sensor to see if that could solve my problem. I wanted to ask y'all if it could possibly be something else before I start spending money. I know that the brakes being applied causes the tc to unlock. Could the sensor or switch that detects the brakes be stuck? The ses light isn't on and I don't know if no lockup would cause it to. TIA.

Did you scan for codes?

If you can scan for codes you are chasing your tail, However it is possible to see if the TCC can lock if commanded, Get a length of wire that will reach from under the car to inside the car, Tap into the tan wire with the black stripe in the trans harness.run wire into car and set up a way you can ground it while driving, This will likley set a code but f the problem is not in the trans or converter when the wire is grounded the converter should lock in 2-3-4 gears.
Or optionally you can set up the same systemand put a 12v led from radio shack inline and hook the other end to 12v if the led lights going down the road the converter is being commanded to lock

I did the ground thing you described. When I flip the toggle switch the tc locks. That means that the tc and the solenoids and switches in the trans are working correctly, right? Should I do the LED test? What would be the next thing to do?

You have proven that if the PCM commands lockup it will occur, The LED would only tell you that the command was given which its obviously not since lockup is not happening.
At this point you are dealing with a tuning/sensor issue and its not likely you will be able to track it down without access to a scanner or tuner,The other other things you can check is fuses and the brake switch. But at least you now now ts not in the trans/converter or solenoids so that give you some where to go

I've heard that I can go to autozone and they'll scan it for free. Is that true? I have also thought about getting the tuner software but I don't know how much it is. I haven't looked into the software much at all but one day I'll probably get it. Once I get a laptop.

I assume the brake switch that unlocks the converter is located under the dash but just want to ask to be sure. What does it look like? I'm sure I won't have a problem with checking the fuses.

It there at the brake petal could be white or black has a little button on it thats held in by the brake lever when the button is released it turns on the brake lights and turns off the TCC power

I just read another thread where they were having a similar problem but their tc would only lock when the engine got to normal operating temp. I think one of my temp sensors is bad because the cooling fans don't turn on until the temp gauge is at the redline. I think it's the one on the waterpump. They will turn on with the ac though. Could that make the pcm think that the engine isn't warm enough to engage the tcc?

I did find the brake switch and it is getting power. But I didn't have enough time to fully test it to see if it's working properly.
