New problem with stock 4L60E when stopping

My stock transmision has been making a "thud" sound when I am almost stoped after driving. It never makes any noises, grinds, or anything when i normaly driving down the road. Just does it when I get to less than 5-10 mph. Its not the brakes or ABS becuase if i am coming to a stop, up hill, not using the break it still makes the noise. (maybe a valve opening to disengage the power... similar to a clutch?)

anyways its now making a metal on metal sound a few times and it sounds like its getting worse.

has anyone else had this problem? is there something simple needing to be done before i end up buying a new transmision?

Thanks

I would check the torque arm bushing and trans mount first
