torque converter cover, yes/no?

Does it really help with the cooling of the trans/converter to leave off the cover/shield on the bottom of the bellhousing? How much stuff could really get in there if the cover were left off, and how much damage could be done? This is obviously without any snow driving or off roading.

You need it to pass tech I believe. I have seen cars with out it. I took mine off to put in a starter and didnt see that it was dented up or any thing. One goood thing about it is, it catches oil if your intake or rear main is leaking. Its not vital, you could run with out it, like I said I have seen cars with out it.

Live here in Oklahoma for a while and get some bailing twine caught in there, you'll never leave it off again.

Balling twine? Is that what they use to tie up bales of hay? I have mine back on the car just because Houston sucks, people enjoy leaving debris in the road ways, better that pan than my flywheel teef

My TH400 doesn't even have holes for the bolts. And it gets blistering hot as it is, let alone if it was all confined!
