So, my mechanic suggested I put in a 2025 Stall TC, which I'm okay with because I'm trying to keep the tranny temp fluid down. Another quick thing, my car is going to be my DD and I may (one day) goto the track to get a 1/4 time, but it isn't going to be close to a "track car". I was just curious what the stock stall was on a 1994 z28?

Umm... like 1800 or 2000, it'll brake torque to about 1650 or so.

Brake torque, what's that? When it actually starts going?

When you hold the brake down and press the gas, the tires will start spinning at around 1800-2000 rpm's. I dont know what other mods you have or going to have done. But a good Vigalante or Yank TQ with a stall of about 3200 and a tranny cooler and you should be fine. Just make sure you get one with a lock up

How high you can bring the rpm's by holding the brake and pressing the gas peddle without the tires spinning.

What the best stall for a bolt on LT1? I thought at the RPM when the torque curve began to level off is what stall you were supposed to get. So for a stock LT1 would put that at about 2400RPMs?

I went out to my mechanic today to see the progress and he's still no done, but I did see the type of TC the speedshop gave him. Its a B&M Tork Master Stall 2000 RPM. Is this TC okay for street use on a bolt on LT1

That converter is too small for your car, it's barely any higher of a stall than your stock converter.

hmmm, maybe I can talk to him then, about a little bigger
what would be good? 2400 - 2800?

But overall, this TC won't crap out on me, like not a "bad" TC? Just has a low stall, that's it?

Best track performance for an NA car is seen with a stall speed somewhere near peak torque. Maybe a bit higher. Most people would find this intolerable on the street though and it would generate a huge amount of heat. My own preference would be a lower rear gear and a tight converter.

But will the B&M do okay for daily driving conditions? Like not break? or poop out on me?
