too much stall???

I had my trans builder take a ride in my car and he said a few times that I have too much stall for my combo, I am planning on getting 3.73 gears next season. but I was wondering how having too much stall will affect performance? Frank foot brake stalled it to about 2800 before the tires wanted to spin. He also has an LT1, and thinks that is high for running 2.73 gears. What do you guys think?

No Frank, I am not second guessing you! I am just getting other opinions, and maybe warning some people who may think about going with a 3500 stall and 2.73 gears!

Re: too much stall???

LOL...That's OK, John. It's always nice to get as much input as possible.

The Ailment John is refering to is a soft shift. Pretty common occurance for an extremely high stall and 2.73 gears.

I'd like to know also...Anyone running a 3500 stall behind a stock LT1 with 2.73's? How's your shift quality?

John, It actually footbraked at 3000
