Ok, I think it's about time for a good stall converter, but I need some recommendations please, I'm running an Hotcammed LT1 which was mustang dyno'd @ 320rwHP/331rwTQ.
Oh got some Drag Radials on the back too with stock 3.23s...
Thanks...

Long term test dummy for Vigilante here...Had mine since 1996...just sent it back to be freshened only because I had tranny rebuilt and wanted everything fresh...You defeinitely get what you pay for....Call vicki at Precision Industries and she'll custom build you a converter to suit your combination www.converter.com
Gained 5 tenths over an already installed performance converter...

I am happy now! I know I can cut a 12.3 also, the 150 shot should put me @ around 11.1!
Im going to try out a converter from Edge Racing. They have a pretty good rep too...and the price is no where as high as a VIG.
I have talked to several converter companies and most say a 2800 but some say a 3000..why would they be different for the mods that I have...I told them all the same mods I have.

Some different manufacturers stall a little a little different from each other. One company may require a 3000 to stall a certain rpm, another company may only need a 2800 to get the same rpm stall. The most highly recommended for our cars is a 2800 from one of the bigger names. PI Vigilante and Yank. I got a 3000 cause I wanted a little more and I bought it used from a guy for a good price. I've never looked back. Either one you'll be happy with. Given coming the same manufacturer they are essentially just about the same thing. Only 200rpms difference.
Whichever converter is the best is just a matter of opinion. I've heard the best things about Vig. and Yank so those are the two I'd recommend. I personally preferred vig. because I had personal experiences with them through friends. I was very impressed with the performance they got, so I went that route also.
As far as max stall goes on OBD1 it's generally around 2800-3000 before the car starts not shifting right. I've heard of many people going with a 3200 and not having problems though. I didn't have any problems with my 3000 so I'm guessing anywhere at or under where I'm at would be the safe bet. If you went higher, it'd just be as simple as a small tune and you'd be back in the clear.

really the fix is that simple if you get the high stall problem a small tune would fix it. So I guess it really isn't that big of an issue huh. So I guess I could run any stall I wanted right!
that's cool.
