Three Series Gears on Two Series Carrier

OK I just finished up changing my 3.23 to 3.73. I had no trouble at all. I made carefull note of where all the shims came from and put them all back in the same place. I had a professional install the pinion for me. I have very little little gear whine. It sounds and works great.

But, a friend wants me to tackle his rear gears now. He wants to go from 2.73 to 3.73. I see that Strange has a set of gears made for this purpose, so I'm wondering have many of you done this? Does this work out OK re-using shims etc? What are your experiences? I'm a bit leary of doing this. Afraind of the unknowns I guess.

Re: Three Series Gears on Two Series Carrier

I've had Strange 3.73's for the 2 series carrier for two years now with no problems. I believe Richmond makes 3 series gears for the 2 series carrier also. Good Luck.
