those with 9" rear

I'm about to buy a 9" housing and I was curious what brand most are using and what brakes you decided to run,I've yet to decide what brand housing and what type brakes I wanna use so your input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: those with 9" rear

I went with a moser housing with a ford center section I had gotten from a salvage yard. I went that route to save money. The Moser center section is stronger than the Fords, but the Ford section is strong enough for what I'm throwing at it. I am using my stock brakes and disabled the anti-lock brakes.

I fabbed my own (" using a housing from a 70 pick-up and a large bearing center with a spool and moser axles.I ordered the axles and housing ends to use stock bolt pattern rotors and calipers, the whole stock deal bolted right back up.Stock brakes work fine for me,they have slowed my fastest 9.89@133 runs just fine.Order the moser housing to use stock brakes.

I'm planning on doing this same thing. Did you have any problems with your setup?

Moser everything: housing, iron N-case, 35 spline, detroit locker, 3.70 gears
1350 yoke, moroso u-joint girdles, ARP 1/2-20x3.5 screw-in studs
LT1 (stock) brakes.

I would've gone the route of a Moser housing with junkyard center section, but I got the entire thing in trade for my stock rear plus $1250. I couldn't pass up that kinda deal.

I'm still trying to get ABS to work. I ordered the gear I need. When it arrives, I have to machine it to thickness, drill to fit the slip-yoke, press it on the slip-yoke, and fab up a bracket to hold an ABS sensor.

Re: those with 9" rear

If you get that gear to work let me know the part number please. I still get people asking me what gear to use and i don't know the part number of the one i used. I'm still leaning towards my plan of Moser housing, axles and junkyard centersection. The only problem is i've read a lot of horror stories of Moser fitment on their 9 inches.

Re: those with 9" rear

Martin Spur Gear, catalog # S1030 - 30 tooth, or S1028 - 28 tooth. (the gears only come in even-numbered teeth, and part numbers follow the above pattern)

110 (teeth on the 10 bolt ring) / 3.70 (my gear ratio) = 29.73ish.

I bought a 30 tooth gear because it was the closest. The teeth face is 1" wide, and the hub extends further. I'm machining it down to 1" wide (may go down to 3/4")and boring it out to press on the slip-yoke.
