Thinking of going 3.42 to 3.73

After doing some thinking to go with my header and N20 install I was thinking about throwing in some 3.73's. The car is not a daily driver but my beater has some miles and broke down so I had to drive the Z for a while.

My boss thinks I should get the stickey tires like I want and get 4.10's. My problem is if the beater breaks again before I can get a nice new beater car that I will have to daily drive on a 4.10 A4 car.
Right now it has a 25k mile Aurbun SS rear with an AAR cover (not the Moser kind with the two bolts in the middle). I am really going towards 3.73. What do you guys think?

If I were you I would go with a stall instead. 3.42s are plenty for an a4 street car, IMO. Going one up to 3.73s isn't really going to be very noticeable, and 4.10s on an auto on your daily driver wouldn't really be worth it either. A stall, however, could get you a really good launch while keeping your car highway friendly. Plus if you get a good one you won't even notice it until you step on it, the rest of the time it will act very similarly to the stock one. I'm not sure which ones are the good ones, but I know there's a big difference in what you can get.

Re: Thinking of going 3.42 to 3.73

Yeah my main concern with a 4.10 is if my beater breaks down again.

I have heard and been told that the 3.42 in an auto car is a great combo. I have also heard of a lot of hype on 3.73's
I may save my pennies and drop a stall in. I know of a few good ones
