th400 swap issues (flexplate)

Okay so I got my convertor today that a local store ordered for me. I asked him if it would work with a 153 tooth flexplate. he said it should.
Get the convertor and it says only fits 168 tooth.

What the hell do i do! Ill have to call tomorrow and see what he says

The convertor has dual patterns on it as well.

Its a TCI 241002

So no my only options are order a tci 242101 (fits 153 i guess) but the stall is smaller

OR order a 168 tooth and a new starter? Which flexplate would I need, summit doesn list for lt1 but im sure any 1piece main sbc should work?

My motor is a built 383 so id assume its internally ballenced.

OKay i measured the bolt circle and it measures 10.75 and 11.5 so it should bolt up to the flexplate BUT maybe the reason that it says 168 tooth is because the mounting ears on the convertor stick out? maybe the wont clear?

Okay I went under the car today and tested the convertor out. It bolts on fine, but the 3 tabs on the convertor hang over the starter ring by maybe .100 (from the bottom of the teeth (so no over the entire flexplate)

Should I just grind about .150 of each tab?

How much metal do you have there outside of the mounting holes? And if you grind away at them, you better do it very evenly (which you probably already know).

Maybe post a pic of this assembled.

Here is a pic it isnt mine but looks the exact same.

I think i may set it up on CNC tonight and pickup the center and cut evenly all the way around.

really? the starter doesnt come out that far?

I guess there is always the option of doing it and checking to see if the starter kits and if it does just pull the starter and modify it....or slot the starer so i can pull it more towards the front of the car.
