TH350 vs 4L60E
#2
Well the 60e has the lower first gear ratio. It has overdrive and the 350 offers no appreciable strength advantage over the 60e and for street driving the 4l60e has lockup also and for racing tunability with the PCM

I went with at TH350 after my N2O use killed my M6. This is 2003. All my friends (Houston Fbody club) with A4 will killing them whether they were stock or modified. Add to that, all the rebuilds were costing 2K+, minimum. I bought a manual valve body TH350 for $650 outright, no core. It lasted from 2000 till 2003(I had a leak in the cooler line and it ran low on fluid & burned up clutches). I had it rebuilt by Century Transmissions in Richmond Texas. That cost $2,500 to get it ready for 800 hp so there goes the the cost/benefit ratio. Nowadays, Frank at Performabuilt and the other Tranny Vendor(s) can build a good A4 for a decent price and you'll get the features Frank mentions. I will be racing my TH350 with my T76 Turbo'd 355 Z28 this season.
