tcc lockup solenoid wire

i've found that the wiring going from the pcm to the transmission harness for the torque converter lockup solenoid is the tan/black wire. what i'm trying to find out is what kind of signal the pcm is sending to the solenoid (whether its 12v + or whether its a ground signal). i imagine i can figure it out but just wondering if anybody knows first. if you're wondering why, i'm wiring in a manual lockup momentary button for testing purposes only. thanks,

ryan

It's going to be a ground that the PCM sends to the transmission. A 1994 does not have the extra PWM TCC solenoid like 95+ have, so I think you will be ok.

shoebox to the rescue once again! someone told me it should be ground but i wasnt sure. i was wondering about the pwm thing too. i had a tranny from a 95 in my car for a little while. didnt notice any kind of change in shifting/lockup though. got my original tranny back in now though. anyway, thanx man

another question i had:

im testing out WOT lockup in the tune. i read somewhere that values over 100mph in the lockup tables wouldnt actually do anything (meaning that the converter wont lockup at 100mph or higher). do you know if this is true or not? i have my tune to lockup in 3rd gear at 75mph @ WOT and i can barely feel the rpm's drop a little but i havent been able to go fast enough to know if it stays locked at higher speeds. this is why i was going to put a momentary button to manually lock it up. but i was just wondering if you know if i set the tcc tables to lockup in 3rd for instance @WOT (75mph+), will it stay locked up @WOT or is there a chance it may unlock?

I see a "TCC WOT Forced Lock Speed Threshold Vs. Gear" table in Tunercat (v 2.11). I don't have any experience messing with it, but it might be what you are looking for.

the TCC Forced Lock Speed Threshold vs Gear table is just the threshold in that in 3rd gear for instance, the converter will only lockup at 60mph or higher and in 4th 95mph or higher. im pretty sure the converter wont lockup unless the regular tcc tables are set to lockup as well. im gonna go try this manual button thing here in a minute. i'll probably just use that for the dyno tomorrow, that way i'll know its locked up instead of relying on the tune. thanx again
