TCC Brake Switch (P0719) Code

Every couple day I'm throwing a P0719 (TCC/Brake Switch Low Voltage) code. I installed a Performabuilt tranny and TC about a year ago and that seems to be working fine so I'm thinking its that actual switch that might be the issue.

Is this the same switch that controls the brake lights, or is there a separate switch somewhere for TCC?

Thanks

Re: TCC Brake Switch (P0719) Code

If you look up the description of the code on the GM website, specifically for your car, it shows the code as "Brake Switch Circuit Low". The description says that the PCM has detected an indication that the brake is on (open swithc), when the vehicle is accelerating. The way I read it, the only thing it is checking is the voltage at the switch on the pedal. Are you able to shift the tranny out of Park without putting your foot on the brake? If so, that would confirm the pedal switch is "open" indicating the brake has been applied.

The schematic for the brake lights shows that the brake pedal switch includes two separate devices, one that operates the brake lights and the cruise release, and another that functions as the TCC/shift interrupt switch.

Re: TCC Brake Switch (P0719) Code

Thanks Injuneer....I'll try to shift it into park without pressing the brake pedal and see what happens.

It only throws the code every few days though, so I guess it could also be a loose connection at the switch....The brake light/cruise switch is pretty easy to get too, but does anyone know where this second brake switch is located?

Thanks again for the ideas!

This diagram shows that both switches are on the pedal - look at the rectangle in the upper/right side:
