TC: lock-up or nonlock-up?
Re: TC: lock-up or nonlock-up?
If this is for your 94 ta you'll want a lock up. Lock up converter have a internal clutch in them that takes all the slip out of your torque converter when you're cruising at slight throttle over 40mph. Gives you better gas mileage, can't think why you would want a non lock up.
Re: TC: lock-up or nonlock-up?
I was looking at the GER converters and I think they said the only ones they have for the 4l60e is non-lockup. I guess they are really just a drag-race co. I will give them a call again tomorrow.
Re: TC: lock-up or nonlock-up?
don't bother with a non-lockup on a streetcar (i'm assuming this is a street car anyway). all the slipping at highway speed will not only hurt gas mileage but it will also cause a lot of excess heat in the trans and heat is the #1 killer of automatic transmissions.
it's nice to have a good, hard-hitting stall in the car and still be able to get on the highway and cruise like a stocker. get a lockup converter and a good tranny cooler to go with it.

Yeah it's going to be an "everyday" 355 pretty much. Probably only drive it like three times a week but I do want it to be as streetable as the cam will allow.
