t56 whining pretty bad!!!!

all right so I've had a used t56 in my car for about 6 months now, and the trans has slowly developed a very faint whine in 1st through 3rd. then I went on 2.5 hour cruise, and when I got off the freeway and hit a stoplight i noticed when I took off, it REALLY started to hum in 1st through 4th. the trans does not leak and when I pulled the drain plug the fluid still looked great. I'm wondering if it is time to pull this thing out for an entire rebuild , or is an isolated problem that can be fixed relatively easily. the trans whines in 1st through 4th, maybe 5th and 6th, I cant really tell cuz the car is kinda loud. It also whines any time the car is moving and in gear, clutch in or not, the only time it wont whine is when the shifter is in the neutral postion. any input is greatly appreciated.

Help??

alright, I refilled the trans with synthetic fluid, and took it out for a spin. Same problem. So I narrowed the symptoms down, the trans only whines under a light load in 1st, 2nd and 3rd... 4th you cant really hear anything and 5th has a small amount of whine. 6th gear was hard to tell but there may be alittle. If you let decel in gear it goes away... under accel it goes away... 1st gear has it the worst and the higher the gear the less apparent the noise. The whine also seems to be more RPM related than speed. Anyone ever has a similar problem?? Anything?

What kind of whine? High pitched or a low hum? Any squeeling? Could be a bearing going out.

its definately a high pitched whine like a super charger, the pitch gets higher with rpm.

Sounds like a bearing on its way out. Probably time for a rebuild.
