Lightbulb T56 Transmission Rebuild Tools??

I am going to rebuild my t56 manual that came out of my 94 z28 and I really need to know where to buy some of the tools that I need to do it with. Does anybody know where I can find these tools at or where I can purchase them from?

Re: T56 Transmission Rebuild Tools??

I was able to disassemble, install a Keisler forward location shifter kit and reassemble my trans with a set of drift punches and a snap ring plier set from Harbor Freight. You will also need star sockets (not sure if that's the real name) available from Harbor Freight or Sears. Last month's Popular Hot Rodding had an article with some useful tips. Shop manual is a MUST.

It took me about 10 hours

Hey,
Thanks alot for the info, but how do you remove some of the bearings without a puller of some sort. Thanks for the input and if there is any more info the feel free to pitch in.

Re: T56 Transmission Rebuild Tools??

You will need a pullter for the 5-6 gear as well as a bearing puller. Try O'Reillys or the auto parts store for someone that rents them. They should be able to help you out. The 5-6 gear puller will need long arms and might have to be modified to work. Some gears are pressed on and will not come off without the pullers. Then again, some are not and will come off with a gentle pull.

Thanks,
Joe
