i recently blew second gear out of my 1996 camaro its weird ive been having problems with second gear for awhile like downshifting for thrid to second it would sometimes grind and i did a burnout tonight and went to grab second with the clutch to the floor and second gear sounds like it just ground off i am looking for help to solve my problem .ie. how to fix it or should i just replace the whole tranny

 

Time to rebuild the tranny, simply as that.

I lost my 2nd gear this same way. When the rebuilder took her apart, all the teeth were in the bottom of the tranny. Everyone was shorn off.
Rebuild!

 

I was just looking at Tickshifts site since I'm sending my original T56 there(it's F.U. because some guys told me to install my new clutch disc in an orientation that ended up being backwards) and I noticed that the have a reference to the 'weakest gear' in the transmission. You guessed it. Second gear...
