T56 Tranny Fluid?

I have read to use 4 quarts of Dexron III ATF. A friend insists not to use Dexron entirely, because it's thin, and if I put some lucas 80-90 gear lube mixed with lucas tranny fluid it would be smoother? Thoughts?

Dextron III ATF seems to be what MOST people on here use

I personally use Royal Purple and LOVE it

You are not supposed to put gear lube in it.

If it calls for Dexron III, then run Dexron III .

Who is your friend, and what does he know?????

If you're really concerned, you can run a synthetic ATF (although it's really NOT "necessary") or you can buy, DIRECT FROM GM, their "synchro-mesh" fluid. But DON'T run "gear oil" .
